Growing up as a child, I visited my father’s birthplace
yearly and spent a few weeks at the cottage that his father had built in Western
Minnesota. Although the inspiration for this painting came from my visits to a
small lake in Northern Lower Michigan, it was always a destination that we
spoke of…”across the lake”. When you
were out in the boat on the lake, you could just barely see the docks, trees
and cottages on the other side. This painting is done in oil paints and
reflects the cool northern light and the muted colors and hues on the distant shore.
Oil on canvas 16”H x 20”W
